Shihan Herb Wiles hosted the 3rd Annual Liberty Classic and the event was also the inauguration of the newly formed New York Traditional Karate League Tournament (NYTKL) on January 13, 2008. The League's goal is to provide quality traditional tournaments which will recognize the best athletes in our area while providing support in representing our state nationally and internationally.

Our Federation sent many members to compete at Shihan Herb Wiles event. The tournament attracted many top competitors and local dojos.
The tournament started off with a meeting with Sensei Roger Jarrett, the new President of the USA National Karate-Do Federation.
Shihan Leung, Sensei Luis Rojas and Mr. Edwin Concepcion judged and refereed throughout the day. Shihan Cleve Baxter, Chief Referee of the tournament, did his best to keep the event running smoothly.
